E1Tips Ninja Packages

Needle: Package Manifest Browser

Read Time:1 Min, 7 Sec

E1Tips Ninja PackagesHere is a common discussion between a CNC Admin and a JDE Development Manager (if you are lucky enough to have a Development Mgr.):

  • DM: What was in that update package last week?
  • CNC: What update package… DV, PY or PD?
  • DM: PY.
  • CNC: Which PY update package… Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday?
  • DM: Ummm… I’m not sure?
  • CNC: Well, which object are you looking for?
  • DM: P554210.
  • CNC: I’ll have to take a look and see if that was in any of the packages. I’ll get back to you.

Wouldn’t it be great to just give the Development Manager, heck the whole Development Team, an application that they could use to get the information themselves? You know, make them find it themselves because CNC  has better things to do empower them to do their job more efficiently.

Well, you can. It’s called the Package Manifest Browser (P98770).

Did you know there was a Package Manifest Browser?  I didn’t!

According to Oracle Support Doc ID 663017.1 – P98770 Package Manifest Browser Application, it was in the GA releases since 9.0 and you can get it for version 8.12 through a Planner ESU. The P98770 can only be run from the web and can be used to browse deployed full packages, its update packages and package contents.

Have fun empowering your development team!
