EnterpriseOne (E1) & IE7

Read Time:1 Min, 9 Sec

We have been looking to upgrade all our users to IE7 ever since we upgraded E1 tools to 8.96.1.5. However, there are many internal industry specific applications that do not work correctly with the latest version of the market dominating Internet Explorer 7.

Please note that I said “market dominating” not personally preferred. I use FireFox.

Anyway, while doing some testing with E1, we noticed that PDFs wouldn’t display. We verified that the IE7’s handy little popup-blocker was disabled but still could not get a PDF. I then proceeded to get frustrated with the issue and the many entries on the web that referred to what seemed like my problem, but had resolutions that didn’t work, for me.

So, I handed the issue off to one of our help desk techs (just one of the many advantages to being in a large organization). He solve the issue without much problem. He found that, although the E1 site was listed in IE7’s “Trusted Sites”, there was a setting that needed to be “enabled” in order for the app to work as intended.

Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites -> Custom Level -> Downloads -> Automatic prompting for file downloads

What a pain!

Anyway, hope it helps…even if I’m the only one that reads this thing.
